Jeep Tours | Sightseeing Tours & Activities | Teambuilding Programs | Corporate Events & PartiesFREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS - PUBLIC JEEP TOURSHOW MANY GUESTS FIT IN ONE JEEP? Each jeep carries 7 passengers plus your Naturalist Guide/Driver. ARE GUIDE GRATUITIES INCLUDED? No, gratuities are not included in our public jeep tour rates. However, as with any service industry employee, our guides appreciate gratuities and rely on them to supplement their tour income. Therefore, feel free to tip your guide if you feel he or she did a particularly good job! WILL WE SEE ANIMALS? If you're lucky! It is exciting to see animals in their natural environment and our guides are experts at spotting them. However, season of the year, the weather, and time of day all play a part in seeing wildlife and we cannot guarantee sightings. IS HOTEL PICKUP INCLUDED? Hotel pickup is not included in the tour rates but is available from down valley resorts, hotels, or country clubs for an additional charge, subject to availability (see map for our pickup area). Guests staying outside our pickup area will need to meet the jeep at our public tour departure point in either Palm Desert or Coachella (depending on the tour). Hotel pickup from Palm Springs is not available on our public jeep tours. Please call the Desert Adventures reservations desk directly at (760) 340-2345 or (888) 440-5337 Toll Free for pickup rates and availability. CAN I BRING A VIDEO OR OTHER CAMERA? Absolutely, the photo opportunities are wonderful on all of our tours. WHAT KIND OF SHOES AND CLOTHES SHOULD I WEAR? For your own safety and comfort, we recommend that you wear closed toe shoes with rubber soles (no open toes such as sandals) and comfortable clothes. Desert temperatures change quickly, so dress in layers and bring sunglasses, a hat and sunscreen. Desert Adventures, Inc. is not responsible for damage or loss of equipment or clothing that guests choose to take along with them on their tour. DO WE NEED TO BRING WATER? No, our jeeps are stocked with plenty of cool bottled water and granola bars. HOW ROUGH IS THE RIDE? Desert Adventures provides ecologically oriented “eco” tours, not thrill rides, and we stick to a network of rough-hewn jeep trails to minimize our impact on the natural environment. Most of our tours are appropriate for everyone from children (5 and up) to senior citizens, and guests with many physical disabilities can be accommodated as long as they can get in and out of the jeep. However, we do travel on unpaved roads which can be bumpy at times. Our Joshua Tree EXTREME Adventure is our most rugged tour and is not recommended for guests with neck or back problems or children under age 6. Pregnant women are advised to consult their doctor before taking any of our tours. IS IT DANGEROUS? All outdoor adventures involve the risk of physical injury and all participants will be advised of these risks and must sign a Waiver of Liability prior to departing on their jeep tour. However, we take numerous precautions to minimize the possibility of any risk and all of our guides are first aid and CPR certified and all of our jeeps receive daily maintenance and maintain constant communication with our headquarters. DO YOU GET OUT OF THE JEEP? IS THERE HIKING INVOLVED? HOW DIFFICULT? Yes, on all of our tours you get out of your jeep several times to see the desert up close and personal. Every adventure is designed to meet our guests' needs, desire and ability. So we offer everything from casual nature walks to our infamous “hike of death”. Each guide will adjust the hiking / walking portion of the tour to fit the abilities of the guests in his/her jeep. CAN CHILDREN GO? Of course! Children love our tours!! However, children 6 and under are not permitted on our public Joshua Tree EXTREME or Mystery Canyon tours and children 4 and under are not permitted on our other public tours. Experience has shown that very young children often do not have the attention span to appreciate the tour, which can be distracting or annoying to other guests. Young children are welcome on private jeep tours, however. Please call Desert Adventures directly at (760) 340-2345 or (888) 440-5337 Toll Free for information about upgrading to a private tour. If you do bring a young child with you on tour, California Law requires that children under 6 years of age or 60 pounds must ride in an approved child safety seat. To ensure the safety of your child, you must provide and use your own car seat. ARE THERE RESTROOMS? Clean restrooms (port-a-potties) are available on our Faultline Express tour, the Indian Cultural Adventure, the Twilight Adventure and the Coachella Valley Pioneer Adventure. There are NO RESTROOMS on the Joshua Tree EXTREME or Mystery Canyon tours. |
